Our modern border planting plan is designed to bring a contemporary flower show look to your garden. It combines structured evergreen forms with soft, airy grasses and long-flowering perennials to create a professional looking border that still feels relaxed and natural.

Colour

​Choose your favourite base colour to personalise the look. Whichever colour you select you'll find the colour palette restrained keeping the look contemporary and cohesive. Contrast comes from deep charcoal foliage, cool greens and silvery tones are punctuated by your chosen flower colour, giving seasonal interest without overwhelming the space. This simplicity makes the border easy to live with and perfect for modern gardens, terraces, and crisp architectural settings.

Structure

The planting is built around contrasting shapes and textures. Low, clipped Pittosporum evergreens provide a clean architectural backbone, anchoring the border through winter. Against this structure, three different grasses weave through the scheme, softening edges and adding gentle movement that catches the light and breeze. Upright spires and loose mounds of perennials rise above, creating rhythm and vertical emphasis without clutter.

Conditions

Designed for full sun, this planting plan balances visual impact with practicality.
